Dr. Pepper Trucks Line Up in Dallas 1950's`

Dr. Pepper trucks and drivers lined up for a company promotional photograph in the 1950's.  This picture was taken in Dallas, Texas, headquarters for the soft drink company. The beautiful Art Deco Dr. Pepper Headquarters Building on Mockingbird Lane was demolished in the 1980's to make room for a supermarket and the company moved to the burbs.

Good Humor Ice Cream Truck 1920's

Image of children gathered around a Good Humor Ice Cream truck in the 1920's.  In 1920, Harry Burt invented the Good Humor Ice Cream Bar and patented it in 1923.  Burt sold his Good Humor bars from a fleet of white trucks like this equipped with bells & uniformed drivers.  Good Humor is still sold today under the Breyers label.

Greyhound Boy In Window 1940's
Candid photo showing the excitement of a young boy on board a Greyhound Bus in the 1940's. Photographer Esther Bubley captured this charming photograph in a Washington, DC bus terminal during World War II. Bubley was working on a project for the Standard Oil Company documenting the transportation System in the United States.

Greyhound Bus Ticket Counter Belvedere Junction, NJ 1948

The Greyhound Bus Station ticket agents & counter in tiny Belvedere Junction, New Jersey taken in 1948.  This photo was part of a series of photos recording the transportation system of the U.S. during the mid to late forties.  The photograph was taken by Esther Bubley working under a grant from the SONJ. Note the Life Savers, Spearmint Gum, Wigley's Gum, Chiclets Gum and Harvest Cigars in display.

Hood & Goodrich Tire Store Early 1920's

Employees of the Central Tire Company unload a new shipment of tires in front of their shop. This photograph was located originally in Arkansas, the tire shop was probably located somewhere in the Central U.S. The B. F. Goodrich Tire Company origins go back to 1870 in Akron, Ohio. Hood was a division of the Goodrich Company. The French Company Michelin bought out the Goodrich Company in 1988.

Railway Express Agency Trust 1950's Photo

This wonderful photograph from a local Railway Express Agency Office was taken by the commercial photographer next door in the late 1940's or 1950's.  The photograph was originally acquired in California although the location is unknown.  Note the cocker spaniel dog hanging out the window and Double Mint advertisement on the side.

Greyhound bus at NYC station boards U.S. Navy sailors bound for the Nation's Capitol in this nostalgic image from WWII.  This photograph was part of a series done during and after the 2nd World War to document the transportation system of the U.S.  The photographer was Esther Bubley who was working under a grant from SONJ.  Photo printed from negative.
