Atlas Beer Flight 1933 Pennsylvania Airlines

The end of Prohibition meant a new life fpr the Atlas Brewing Cpmpany. As a marketing tool they contracted with Pennsylvania Airlines to deliver a first shipment of their brew to the Nation's Capitol. This photograph shows the beer being off loaded from the airplane at Washington D.C. This shipment of beer was to be a gift to each Congressman who voted to repeal the Volstad Act. The photo was taken April 7, 1933 .

Chevrolet Deluxe 1949 with NWA Martin 202

Fabulous promotional protograph of the Chevrolet four-door Deluxe model with Northwest Airlines newest passenger airplane, the Martin 202, used as a backdrop.  Chevrolet staged this photograph at the Detroit Airport on a rainy fall morning in 1949.  The airplane was used to emphasize the streamlined design of the latest model Chevrolet.  Printed from negative.

Northwest Orient Airlines Douglas DC-8C

Northwest Orient Airlines news release announced their operations of a fleet of long-range Douglas DC-8C pure-jet transports on its trans-Pacific route between the U.S. and the Orient, its west coast-Hawaii and its New York-Seattle routes.  Northwest's DC-8C's were powered by four Pratt and Whitney JT4A-9 turbo-jet engines with a cruising speed of 585 mph.  The plane had a normal range in excess of 5,000 miles.

Pioneer Air Lines Counter Dallas 1950's

Pioneer Air Lines ticket counter located at Dallas Love Field.  Short lived Pioneer flew regional flights within the Lone Star State.  The airline was headquartered in Abilene, Texas.

Wiley Post Landing Winnie Mae Photograph

Pilot Wiley Post is shown landing his plane the Winnie Mae (Vega Aircraft) in a field outside Oklahoma City during the State Fair in 1934.  Post and fellow Oklahoman Will Rogers were both killed in an Alaskan plane crash the following year.
